Discover the Legacy Behind the Music
The Florence Price Piano Competition is excited to collaborate with the Florence Price Special Collections Archive at the University of Arkansas. During the 3 day competition events, lectures, exhibitions and symposiums will be held with the support from the Special Collections. At the FPIPC, we firmly believe in the legacy of Florence Price is built on the extraordinary musical and scholarly research and understanding. To deepen the connection between performance and scholarship, we invite students, researchers, and community members to explore the Florence Price Special Collections held at the University of Arkansas.
Home to the archive of Florence Price, the Special Collections at the University of Arkansas offer researchers and scholars a close look at who she was as a composer and as a person. The collection contains materials, primarily published and unpublished sheet music, created and collected by Florence Price. Also included are a memo book, course notes, and a course notebook that belonged to Price; thirteen family photographs; and a manuscript draft of a novel.
